God Said Cancer is a biography of my journey through a cancer diagnosis that began with a grim outcome, a miracle of healing, and a life lived full of side effects that never go away. This book lays out for others a picture through the eyes of a cancer patient and the events that unfold out of anyone's control but God's.
People often ask this question: if God loves, then why does He allow bad things happen to good people? If we read in the Bible in the book of Job, we see that God chose a man who rose to prosperity, then lost everything, yet never turned his back on God. Everyone around him told him to curse God, but he refused, and God returned to him the things he had lost. Job is not just an example of “if you stay the course, God will bless.” Rather, he is an example of “stay the course.” God does not always give back to us what we have lost like He did for Job, but He always gives us hope and peace in the journey if we keep our trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5, 6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
When we live our lives with God’s direction as priority, this question shines brightly: What happens when God chooses us to________________? Fill in the blank. God may choose us to lose a baby before birth, or choose us to hear the doctor’s words that take our breath away, or choose us to say goodbye for the last time to a loved one as he or she walks out the door or breathes their last breath. What happens when He says that it is our turn to face this? God has a plan for each of our lives, and when we choose Him, He will lead us and guide us through that plan. Are we ready?
